If you get in the habit of varying how you write equations in math class, then children understand better the different ways that the = sign can be used, so instead of

3 + 4 = 7

Sometimes do:

7 = 3 + 4

3 + 4 = 7 + 0

3 + 4 = 5 + 2

4 + 3 = 5 + 2 = 7
