My list of topics to study is taken directly from the list we
compiled in class 2 weeks ago, and is on the last page of the graphic
organizer notebook:
Names of shapes by sides
triangle, quadrilateral, pentagon,
hexagon, octagon
shapes by properties:
triangles (angles)
be able to identify triangles and their
properties, by the 6 properties we used when making the triangle table
in class
quadrilaterals
name and identify the shape maker
quadrilaterals. Be able to answer questions such as: are all
squares rectangles? are all rectangles squares? are all
rectangles rhombi? are any rectangles rhombi? etc.
Line symmetry
find line symmetry in shapes; draw
shapes with line symmetry
Rotational symmetry
find rotational symmetry in shapes;
draw shapes with rotational symmetry
composing and decomposing: making shapes out of triangles
Make and trace as many shapes as you
can from 3 shapes that are provided
translations, rotations, reflections
Draw or identify a shifted, turned or
flipped pattern.
Properties: Identify shapes with the following properties:
(having) right angle
sides having the same length
(having) obtuse and acute angles
reflex angle
convex and concave
parallel
