Homework:

1. Explain the process for multiplying mixed numbers by converting to improper fractions. Use a diagram to show the steps, and explain how to get the answer (by multiplying improper fractions) from the visual diagram. Explain for the example 1 2/5 × 3 1/4.

2. Try the Mixing Lemonade investigation on Nrich Maths.

• After you have answered a few questions correctly, write down the next 3 problems that the web site gives you.
• For each of those problems explain how you figure out the answer.
• Explain how someone could use fractions to answer this kind of problem.
