Partitive long division assignment:
Make a video of yourself solving the problem: 7493 ÷ 24 by using place value manipulatives, and recording your work in the standard algorithm.
- You must use a place value representation for the groups (so you must have something that represents 10 groups, not just single groups).
- You should choose one of the two representations I showed in the video: either base 10 blocks and labelled groups or Montessori stamp game stamps.
- You should describe what you are doing with the materials using partitive description words (e.g. sharing into groups)
- As you go, you should explain (as if you were talking to a student) how the manipulative representation and the numerical representation correspond.
- You shouldn't worry too much about how long your video is taking--if it takes more than 5 minutes to do the problem, just continue it as a part 2 video.
- You should e-mail me if this link to the base 10 manipulatives (including the Stamp Game) doesn't work properly.
Turn in to the dropbox either the .swf file(s) or a link to your videos on screencast.com.
