Advice from last year's students

• The assignments take a lot longer than you think, so make sure to give yourself enough time for the assignments.
• Don't get behind! The content is great, but it's a ton of work.
• I had to work a lot harder than I'd expected. You will too.
  
  The good part is that you'll learn a ton, and all of it is directly applicable to working with children and helping them really learn mathematical thinking.
  
  Start early, and make sure you are not working a lot or taking a lot of other summer courses at the same time. This is a course that takes concentrated time, good access to technology, and some computer knowhow (or willingness to learn) on your part.
• Depending on ones learning style, perhaps taking the class in person would be better.  Use time wisely.  Don't wait to start till the last minute.
• Try to start early.  Make sure all the programs required for the class are up and running (which is why I think having one or two sessions to go over a few things would be very helpful).  Students might complain at first, but those in-class sessions will pay off later in the course.  
• Ensure you work on the course throughout the summer every day- and save a specific part of your day to devote to it.
