Circles Assignment (learning/remembering vocabulary and basic properties)
Read Lessons 6.1 and 6.2 in Serra.
1. Draw an example of a central angle of a circle. In a different color draw the arc intercepted by the angle.
2. Draw an examples of an inscribed angle of a circle. In a different color draw the arc intercepted by the angle
3. Draw a central angle and an inscribed angle that intercept the same arc.
4. Draw a chord in a circle. In a different color draw the central angle subtended by the chord. In a third color draw the arc intercepted by the chord.
5. Color and label a major arc, a minor arc, and a semicircle (not neccessarily on the same circle)
6. Draw a circle, a chord, the center of the circle, and the perpendicular bisector of the chord. Mark on your picture the segment that shows the length from the chord to the center of the circle.
7. Draw a circle, a tangent line, and the radius of the circle that ends at the point where the tangent line touches (intersects) the circle.
8. Use a compass and straight edge to construct a tangent line to a circle. (Use the info about how radii and tangent lines are related as well as what you know about constructing parallel/perpendicular/etc. lines.
