Things that could be on exam 1:
Explaining what a limit is including both:
- what does it mean to say that something is a limit?
- epsilon-delta problems of the two types that were on the homework
Looking at a graph of a function and answering questions about:
- what are the limits at certain values
- where is it continuous and discontinuous
- where is it differentiable
- what are approximate derivatives
- what does the derivative function look like (sketch a graph)
Finding limits and/or derivatives and/or speeds using limits:
- with polynomials
- with fractions
- with square roots
Graphing a piecewise defined function, telling where it is and is not
continuous, and determining (left and right) limits.
Explaining what a derivative is:
- in the geometric sense
- in the physics/science sense
