Fibonacci study guide 2
Be prepared to tell how to win at Fibonacci Nim. You can find sample problems in the book on page 59 # 13-18 (2-3 problems like this). You can play Fibonacci Nim online here
Be prepared to explain a Fibonacci pattern. You can find most of the problems we discussed in class, and several others here, and the others are here. The links explaining why Fibonacci numbers are the answer is what I will be looking for, though at a less sophisticated level than you will find on this web site.
The quiz problem will have this format (example: Brick wall patterns)
If we want to build a brick wall out of the usual size of brick which has a length twice as long as its height, and if our wall is to be two units tall, we can make our wall in a number of patterns, depending on how long we want it
a. Show by drawing or listing all of the different ways and patterns that you can use to get a brick wall that is 4 units long and two units high.
b. Show by drawing or making a table all of the different ways and patterns that you can use to get a brick wall that is 5 units long and two units high.
c. Show that this problem follows a Fibonacci pattern by writing an explanation of how you can take the pictures or tables from a and b and, by adding to them in a systematic way, you can get all of the different ways and patterns you can use to get a brick wallthat is 6 units long and two units high. (Explain in words as well as symbols or pictures what your systematic plan is).
