I have some 3D shapes for you to look at and identify. There are 12 shapes. The most important thing for you to know is to be able to tell whether something is a prism or a pyramid or neither one. When you identify a prism or a pyramid, you should tell what it's base is, so if you identify a shape as being a prism or a pyramid, you should record a name for it of the form: "hexagonal pyramid" or "prism with an octagon base". If it's not a prism or a pyramid, you can just say that it is neither one, but there are 2 extra credit points you can earn if you correctly identify all of the dipyramids and anti-prisms correctly.

You can look at the 3D shapes in one of two ways. You can download and install Google SketchUp. It's free, and it's a fun little program to play with. Then you can open my SketchUp file and look around in it.

Alternately, you can watch these videos of me showing the SketchUp shapes from different angles--dragging and rotating them around.
