Math 246 Test 2 will include:

• Some problems where you determine what CGI type the problem is. (See online quiz)
• Some problems where you write a word problem of a given type (See previous assignment)
• Some problems where you draw a bar diagram (part-whole diagram or bar graph diagram) to show how to solve the problem (See Monday’s in class work)
• Some problems where you need to show different ways find sums and differences (see recent assignment).  I am likely to give you a problem and a strategy and ask you to solve the problem using the given strategy.  The strategies are those from the list we made for the Feb 29th assn. and those from the Mar 3 reading/watching assignments.

You will also need to know for several pairs of problem types, which is more difficult.  These are the most important pairs to know:

JCU vs. SCU and JSU
PPW-PU vs JSU and SSU
SRU vs CDU
CQU vs CRU

You will need to be able to analyze and write intelligently about which computation strategies are more efficient for various basic facts problems. The basic facts computation strategies you should know are:

Count on
Count back
Count up to
Use doubles
Make 10/use 10/use 10 with a number line
