For this assignment, you'll be applying two important ideas from Vygotsky's theories:

The Zone of Proximal Development: planning lessons that are at a just-right level

Scaffolding: providing supports to help children move to the next level of understanding.

Please watch video 14: Wheel Problem at the Annenberg site. Watch both the classroom segment, and the teacher commentary at the end.

1. Tell what things the teacher took into account when planning the wheels problem for her students (what did she do to try to make the problem be at a just-right level).

2. Give examples of scaffolding that the teacher provided for children to solve the problem, and how they were supportive of student learning.
